A clean '99 Tahoe, black over tan leather.
My dad got one after his '90 Silverado was stolen, quite possibly the nicest car we've ever had. I loved that thing, and I want one for myself.
Those big, welcoming seats. That 5.7L V8. The AC vent under the steering wheel that aimed at your crotch. It was a big truck designed by guys, for guys.
Looked just like this.
I keep hoping a clean one comes up on CL for around 2500-3000 dollars. That would be perfect.

If you lived in florida, there'd be at least 80-90% chance of it having shitty 'dubs' on it.

Ball cooler/warmer vent is best vent.

Good thing I don't! Most around here aren't "tastefully" modified, luckily.

Quite possible the best feature on the truck.

Thinking: * Hmm...is that really a fair stereotype, though? Just because florida ruins japanese cars means it will ruin anything? Let me go to craigslist to find out if that's truly the case and see if I'm wrong...*
*One search later*...
Nope. Not wrong. I know my state too well.

I'll sell you my dad's '99 Suburban haha
Engine is perfect but it needs a new tranny and exhaust.

Most around here look like this. Stock is best bro.
I like this one.

New tranny might be a bit of an issue...

I always wanted one, but the atrocious gas mileage turns me off. I'd take the generation that replaced it though - still crappy mileage but still looks modern. I'd use it for all kinds of road trips.
I'd snatch a suburban or Yukon XL for the space - me, the wife, the baby and all the crap he needs, a pitbull and jack Russell.

Haha ya I don't know what new transmissions go for in those cars. The car had 250,000 miles on it and if it had a new trans, I have no doubt that the car would run forever.

Atrocious gas mileage is nothing I'm not used to, consider the best any car gets around here is about 20 MPG.

They're indestructible, except for that transmission.

We had a Trailblazer with the 4l60E, and on the high end of local mechanics, was $700. We had a family friend do it for $400. Depending on your mechanical ability, you could do a rebuild on your driveway.

jeeeeez... I couldn't imagine. My corolla still pulls 33-37mpg, my 530 about 28-32 and my Montero about 16 (all hwy figures)

1999 Chevy Tahoe 2 Dr 4x4 ESCALADE - $14500
Professionally converted to ESCALADE using original GM Cadillac division body work & badging. No expense spared....top quality!
So that's.. like, $8,000 worth of not a Cadillac value or something?.. wait, no, Gray interior. try again.

Someone really wanted a 2-door Escalade.. Like what was the point in all that cost?

I'm very mechanically inclined, but automatic transmissions are a whole different beast for me. I'd swap it, but my dad is going to get rid of the car soon so it's not worth the time/effort.

I know they are a different animal, they are just supposed to be pretty simple to work on for an automatic(excluding Allisons).

My family had a Suburban of this year. It was a nice blue, and man did it took us on so many adventures. Never had Tahoes, but I agree this and the last gen are the best looking. Oh, and the 2002 Z71. I love those.

My sister has a black 99 Suburban. 270k miles and she will not get rid of it for anything. I've tried..... I thought maybe if she drove something newer she would see what shes missing. I let her drive my MDX, my other sister let her drive her Pilot. She still won't let go of it.

There is a 2dr tahoe around the corner that just dropped in price to $2400, very tempting...

I currently own a clean '99 Suburban. I can attest to the greatness of these vehicles. Mine is all leather, front bench (seats 9 yo!) and has 245,000 MILES on it as we speak. Runs like a god damned top.

he had 89, 93, 95 and 97 suburbans. the 89 was my favorite. The 89 had the best interior and coolest look, but it was terrible to drive generally.
The 93 and 95 were meh and the 97 was a k2500 with a supercharged 454...so that was fun. The interiors of the GMT400's we owned as appalling though, self destruct city. pretty tough little buggers though as far as mechanical.

They don't die! I see them all over craigslist with almost 300,000 miles. I wouldn't be scared to pick one of these up with 250k.
